Vols Beat Georgia Tech Double Overtime
The Tennessee Vols headed to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech in the season opener. The Vols ended up pulling out a victory in the second overtime despite being out played the entire game.
The Vols found themselves down 14 points in two separate instances in the second half. They seemed to be unable to stop Georgia’s option play.
Statistically, the Vols were dominated. Georgia decided to go for the win in the second overtime but Marshall was crushed as he tried to cut inside. He made a desperation pitch that was later ruled an incomplete pass giving the Vols the win.
Though the Vols pulled out the win, the game left concern for the rest of the season for Vols fans. Georgia Tech won the game i every aspect except the scoreboard.
However, the scoreboard is all that matters. Hopefully, the Vols can build off this win and make strides for the rest of the season.
The name of the game is to put yourself in a winning spot at the end, which they did. However, they got there, the Vols managed the win.
Butch Jones is surely feeling the pressure this year as he has been the focus of the Vols under performance in recent years.
It has been over 20 years since the Vols appeared at the top of the NCAA’s football teams. Could this be the year it all starts turning around?
The Vols will have better competition in up coming games and will have to step up from this performance in order to win.
