Lady Vols Pat Summit Remembered
Pat Head Summit grew up in the small town of Henrietta on the out skirts of Cheatham County. She took the Head Coaching job of the Vols, under paid looking to make her mark. Time would prove her to be one of the winningest coaches of all time.
Family members, fans, and players are placing flowers at her memorial in Knoxville in remembrance of the great coach.
One year ago today, Cheatham County was solid orange as the funeral service of Pat Summit was scheduled for that afternoon. Whether you were in a restaurant or a shopping center, there was orange and white as far as you could see. People came from all over to pay their respects to the most iconic women’s basketball coach of all time.
The University of Tenneseee-Knoxville posted a tribute to Pat on its website today. Sharing her history as a coach and the impact she had on everyone she came in contact with.
The Pat Summit Foundation will be honoring her legacy throughout the day, posting videos on its website and on social media. #ThanksPat
