The Tennessee Titans roster ranks third in NFL by Pro Football Focus(PFF) for the 2017 season. The only teams ranked ahead of them are last years Super Bowl finalists, the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots.
After beginning the 2016 season ranked near the bottom, the Tennessee Titans come into the 2017 season as the most improved team in the NFL.
PFF rates players based on a tier system:
Good/High Quality: 80-89.9
Below Average: 60.9-69.9
The Titans achieved this ranking with an undervalued score for Marcus Mariota, average. The same grade was given to last years third best leading rusher, Demarco Murray. Given the drastic improvements in the passing game, both player grades are sure to rise in the first few weeks of the season.
The PFF rankings validate all the hype that has surrounded the Tennessee Titans post draft. While rankings are just a stat sheet, the Titans appear to be on a path for several years that is unmatched in franchise history.
The Titans have had some good teams through the years but none of them have been as explosive as the 2017 roster could be. On paper, the team has about every weapon one could hope for along with a staff to utilize them.
Last year, PFF ranked Taylor Lewan the best left tackle in football and he went on to allow one sack all year. PFF’s ranking system is stringent and more accurate than one would think. Releasing the Tennessee Titans roster ranks third in NFL only adds to the hype surrounding the Titans for 2017.
Most Tennessee fans could already see the possibilities and have high expectations for 2017. The release of PFF’s roster rankings have put a spot light on the Titans league wide which could work in the Titans favor.
After going 9-7 in 2016 and post draft, we have stressed the impact of the personnel changes the Titans have made. Many of which are still not getting the credit they soon will. Even with that, this franchise is steam rolling to the for front of the league and will be a force to be reckoned with.
