MTSU Pitching Coach JP Davis Resigns

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee pitching coach JP Davis has resigned as announced by Blue Raider Head Baseball Coach Jim McGuire Monday.

McGuire said a national search will be conducted to fill the position.

“I want to thank Coach Davis for his hard work at Middle Tennessee over the last three years,” McGuire said. “I wish Coach Davis the best with his future endeavors.”

McGuire said the search for a new pitching coach will begin immediately.

“Obviously, we want to get the new coach in here as soon as possible this summer so he has time to get acclimated and learn about the players we have returning.”

The Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders went 24-31 in their 2017 Campaign. The 2017 Blue Raiders scored 357 runs and allowed 432 runs against.

While the Blue Raiders scored enough runs to win in most of their games, the defense seemed to be what was lacking. Whether that be due to talent or coaching remains to be seen but was likely the cause of Davis’s resignation.

The Blue Raiders are currently on a National search to find his replacement although there has not been any candidates announced at this point. The Raiders will look to rebound in their 2018 season as their offense seems to be currently on track.
