Tennessee Titans Look to Trade Down 2017 Draft
Insiders are projecting the Tennessee Titans are among the leading teams to trade down. In a month full of Mocks and projections, this tells us a lot about the Titans draft plans.
Its no secret that the Tennessee Titans General Manager Jon Robinson is always out to maximize the teams option and always looks at next years draft as well. However, the Titans are also primed to go deep into the playoffs this year so what can we determine with this news.
The Tennessee Titans have 3 ” For Sure” impact player available in this draft. While this draft class is full of talent, teams do not like to take chances with a top 10 over all pick. This leaves us three candidates that have to be on the top of the Titans board.
Marshon Lattimore-CB-Ohio State. With it being almost unanimous in all mocks that Lattimore goes to Chicago with the 3rd pick, this is likely to be considered not an option for Robinson.
Jamal Adams-S-LSU- Undoubtedly the best DB in the draft, Adams would help the secondary of the Titans but should not be available past pick 8.
Mike Williams-WR-Clemson-Williams is not the fastest WR in the draft but with health, athleticism, and 1st year impact considered, he is at the very top in the WR category.
The Titans have all but ruled out Lattimore and while Adams is a great pick, the Titans are looking to get Mike Williams. If the Titans have Mike Williams as their top candidate, they do not need the 5th pick to get him. They could easily trade down to 10th, get what they need and solidify a 1 or 2 second round picks at the same time.
We look for Tennessee to trade down Once Lattimore is picked or at the last minute to no lower than 10th. This gets them what they want from the beginning along with more picks. This would be another great move by GM Jon Robinson if he can make this happen as we can see how he rated in the 2016 draft just last year.
