Nashville Predators Win 6-3 Head to the Stanley Cup Final
Smashville,TN- The Nashville Predators faced another up hill battle tonight in game 6 missing both of their top centers and squaring off against a physical team that faced elimination.
The Anaheim Ducks mission was clear from the start as they relentlessly attacked the goal putting pucks on net. However, the Predators would make their shots count as they scored two goals on just their first three shots.
The Predators NHL hit leader Austin Watson would score first for the Preds shortly followed by another from Colton Scissons putting the Predators up 2-0.
Everything seemed to be going the Predators way until the Ducks would catch Pekka Rinne out of position after blocking one shot to put their first goal in the net making it 2-1 Predators.
A one goal lead in the second period does not mean much in this series as the fans seemed to tense up in Smashville. Until Colton Scissons hit his second goal of the night to put the Preds up 3-1.
The Atmosphere in Bridgestone suggested all the fans were ready to claim victory as it all seemed to be going the Preds way. The Anaheim Ducks would prove why they made it this far and put up two goals to tie up the game 3-3.
The third goal sucked the energy out of the building until Colton Scissons, delivering his hat trick for the night delivered his third goal putting the Predators up 4-3.
The Electric Atmosphere would take over as the Ducks pull goalie and Filip Forseberg sling in another goal from the other side of the ice. The Predators were not done as the guy who started the scoring ended with with another Austin Watson goal making the final 6-3.
The amazing part of the game is the Nashville Predators shot a 33% goal percentage. Yes 33%. The Anaheim Ducks out shot the Predators 41-18 in game 6 yet the Predators scored six goals. Pekka Rinne had an amazing night with 38 saves out of 41 shots.
While one could say Pekka Rinne saves and Colton Scissons hat trick made them the star of the game, there really wasn’t any individual effort that won the Preds the game. The won as they always do, by everyone stepping up and doing their part.
There were multiple block shot from nearly every player on the ice at some point adding to Rinne’s saves. Scissons 3 goals made were great set ups by Filip Forseberg and company there for this game was a true team effort.
The way the Predators play and especially after the last two games adversity, if you are a hockey fan and not a fan of the Senators or Ducks, you would have to find yourself pulling for this team.
While all of us Smashville faithful always have, the Nashville Predators have earned themselves an extended fan base this year as Nashvillians who were not big hockey fans are buying the Gold and Blue for the Pride of Nashville.
The Stanley Cup Finals will start Monday May 29, 2017 but lets all just digest what has actually happened tonight and enjoy the Victory. The Nashville Predators and all the people in middle Tennessee have waited a long time for this….
